I moved to Deanshanger at the end of 2018 and was very keen to become involved in the community and work to ensure that the village remains a vibrant and great place to live.
By becoming a member of the Parish Council (July 2019) I aim to contribute to and support village developments and to be a voice of the local community.
I want to make sure that the village is a clean, tidy and pleasant environment to live in and that people who are less well off, disadvantaged or have special needs have the services and support that they need to thrive.
I am concerned that the bankruptcy of Northamptonshire County Council has meant that village life has been diminished through the under funding of and cancellation of services including buses, the library, schools and highways and will work hard to lobby for the quality services that people should have and that have been paid for through taxes.
In my working life, I spent most of my time in the education, youth support and charity sectors. After graduation, I trained as a secondary school teacher, taught briefly in London and then in Africa (Aid programme). I then worked in youth support and careers services and at the end of my career I was Regional Director for London and the South with a UK educational charity.
I no longer undertake paid employment but continue with some voluntary work including a fundraising role with The Molodva Project. I have previously been a Chair of Governor and Governor of secondary schools in Luton and Dunstable.
As I am new to the village, I am particularly keen to hear from residents about concerns and issues so that I can work on their behalf.
