I am a mother and small business owner and have lived in the village on and off for 17 years, my 11-year-old twins attend Elizabeth Woodville School. I have a dog which I take for long and varied walks each day in and around the village, which gives me time to notice things, such as improvements made by the Parish Council (thank you), or broken, run down parts of parks, among other areas which could benefit from Parish Councils attention and would like to help with this.
I choose to live in a village because I wanted to be part of and contribute to a local close-knit community. Having growing children has given me a constantly changing perspective of what families in the village need, as a Parish Councillor I would be interested in looking at way to get older children/young people to become more involved an aware of the role of a Parish Council, with a view to have more representative of the community it serves. I am also passionate about the environment and would look to ensure we are doing what we can as a village to conserve energy and protect our wildlife, and air quality.
I have previously held the role of PTA Chairperson (3 years) and PTA Vice Chairperson (2 years), for Deanshanger Primary School, where I successfully helped raise tens of thousands of pounds towards essential equipment, experiences for the children and playground equipment, so I am familiar with making democratic decisions, following procedures, attending and organising meetings, upholding standards and working as part of a team to meet our objectives.
